Digital transformation (DX) is the driving force behind new initiatives in financial services worldwide. However, a recent IDC survey found that fewer than 5% of institutions have started or completed a digital transformation strategy. One of the 3rd Platform technologies that form the basis of DX is mobility. Up until now, financial institutions have focused on the use of mobility to drive improved customer experiences directly to their customers' devices. However, as consumer sophistication with mobility has
increased — particularly among younger generations — so too has the need to enable mobility for the enterprise worker. In the broader sense, mobility means the ability to work from wherever the user is — whether the institution's executives who want to use their personal smartphones to communicate with others, the small business lender or claims adjuster who uses a tablet to serve customers from the road, or the contact center agent who works part-time using a desktop at a centralized office or a laptop
at home. This Market Spotlight explores these issues in the larger DX context.
