This white paper discusses current developments that highlight the need for a purpose-built architecture designed to deliver "big data performance at scale." In terms of storage revenue, big data/analytics is a multibillion-dollar industry. Given the increasing importance of real-time analytics in the big data space, speed and the ability to execute transactions in larger and larger data sets are critical. Many customers have looked to existing storage architectures, enhanced by flash performance, to help deliver low latency and high throughput. Those storage architectures have included all-flash arrays (AFAs), hybrid flash arrays (HFAs), and all-flash configurations of scale-out platforms in the software-defined and hyperconverged storage markets.
