Cloud computing and other pillars of the 3rd Platform (Big Data, mobility, and social business) are driving profound change in datacenter networking and application delivery. Enterprises that have adopted the 3rd Platform (especially private or hybrid cloud) are coming up against the limitations of traditional networking, which was designed for the client/server era, not for the demands of today's application workloads, microservices, and DevOps. This is particularly true of physical network
appliances, such as load balancers and application delivery controllers (ADCs). What's required is a new approach to networking and application delivery that is better aligned with the needs of continuous development, DevOps practices, microservices, and software-defined networking (SDN). The challenge is to anticipate and to prepare for the change, making proactive moves now that allow you and your organization to derive full business value from the 3rd Platform.
